Default Mean shoulder injury. Can't bench right. Any alternative lift ideas?

I don't know what I did but my left shoulder is pretty much useless. If any of you have been watching the new season of the ultimate fighter, i think i got the same injury as the dude with the black and green hair did. I was training for a fight and got spilled on top of my shoulder and the shit felt like it was on fire from my shoulder to my ear and i havent been able to bench right. No insurance so surgery is out of the question. Any suggestions to what I should do to keep my chest strong and still get it bigger?

I would leave it alone dude. I would keep as much tension off of it as possible for as long as you need to so you don't turn it into something permanent. I would focus on getting leaner for a while maybe. I have pain in my right shoulder where the clavicle meets the shoulder so I have to stay away from barbells for a while but it's not too bad and I can still use dumbbells.

I have had this injury for almost a year now. I wish I could leave it alone but I am a football player and if I can't bench, I'll get benched. I can do everything else including close grip bench but can't do too many push up and just can't bench press. Thanks for the advice tho my man. I guess I should of made it more clear on how long I have been f'd up.

try rotator cuff exercises to strengthen shoulders and stretch a lot. stay away from barbell presses, try dumbbells, maybe use like Hammer Strength machines, and do fly movements.

Yeah I'm looking into temporary insurance options to get it fixed. It's a bitch. I'm 20 years old and play college ball but if you have a pre existing injury, they won't fuck with you. I didn't know this when I got to this school so i was being honest and they pretty much said fuck you. Now I'm transferring to play at a d 1 school. I guess I just have to take the L from Hell and pretend I got hurt there lol. good looking out tho

I agree, you have to get it checked out. You can always go to an emergency room in a public hospital and get it looked at. Just get it done...

If you can get away w/pretending it happened while on the new team will the team Dr.s treat you? If so, then def try that route. I've also found that Dr.'s will charge you about 75% less if you pay cash. Maybe just see Dr. for a diagnosis first and take your file w/you when done?

agree with this...... leave that barbell alone ...grab the dumbells and let that shoulder find its own path
But best way to totally heal an injury is to REST it till its better.
You could try putting an ml of deca in it every week for a few weeks as i was advised when I hurt mine .............did it help ...initially it did but for me not enough to warrent keeping on doing it after a few weeks.

Deca may be helpful temporarily as Rep said, but if I understand correctly, it could also mask a worsening issue so be careful.

I have no idea where to get that shit man. I appreciate the tips but I don't have connects like that. I wanted to sign up for the v.i.p. thing but I don't have a credit card, i stick to cash money lol Doesn't going to the e.r. cost money? I've never been. And I will try the cash option and see how much it costs when i go home. Keep the advice coming, I like to see what others have done to get themselves back to 110%.

Not having a credit card is no excuse anymore these days. Go to Walmart or CVS or Walgreens etc and get a prepaid Visa. And it's highly unlikely you'll get back to 110% if you keep using that shoulder to lift. Time off is best. Your shoulder is under stress in just about every upper body exercise. I know it's not what you want to hear or the advice you're going to follow but it may be all you can do to not aggrevate it any further. I wouldn't just go trying things to see what doesn't cause pain without the advice of a health care professional.

When your hands are at a fixed position on the bar, it keeps the stress and pressure on a pretty fixed point by not allowing you to move in a more natural motion as dumbbells do. I prefer dumbbells anyway. You don't need a spotter and I always work out alone by choice. Effects your Bicep how? Like nerve pain or something? Or when you're doing standing curls your shoulder hurts because I get that too from the weight pulling down at the joint. It's tolerable though.

maybe after you find what exactly is causing this, you could benefit from some physio therepy and take some anti inflamitory just before your chest exersizes do more reps with a lighter weight Like a burnout session.

Just went to the gym and it seems for some reason my right shoulder got a little worse and now I am limited to only doing fly's for chest. I can do standing or sitting shoulder presses with dumbbells but I cannot do any presses at all for chest. I'm wondering if Masteron may be responsible although it doesn't seem there is anyone who has had these issues with it. I probably just went too heavy too soon considering this cycle started when I got back in the gym after a long break. Oh well.

I think the sudden strength gains make it easy to tear shit if your not careful. I got bursitis from years of training/surfing and really have to warm up with push ups, being careful to keep a certain form and going slow at first until my shoulders loosen up.

Bursitis sounds like what I have. Inflammation between tendon and bone makes sense. I'll just take it easy and do high rep fly's for a while. If it doesn't get better I'll see a Dr. but I have a pretty good feeling I'll just end up going through the same bullshit I went through with my wrist. I saw a couple different specialists and had an MRI and they still couldn't find anything.

I had a shoulder problem that is still bothering me. I've just stayed away from shoulder exercises until I'm back to 100%. However, for some reason delt raises don't cause any pain. Give that a shot, but our shoulder issues are mostly likely in different places.

Although the problem is in the shoulder, shoulder exercises don't bother me. It's chest presses of any kind that do. I can press over my head with dumbbells all day and be fine. The weight pushing down at the front of the shoulder when I'm laying on my back is what hurts. If you take your finger and place it on your collar bone and follow the bone on the under side of the bone until it runs into the muscle....my problem is in there....deep.

And a big bump here also ....I hardly ever get shoulder probs now that I have changed to Dumbbells for the press.
