    Default Forearm Pain!!!

Everytime I do free weight preacher curls I get this horrible burning pain in my forearms. It doesn't feel like a natural pain from just lifting weights. It doesn't hurt when I do any other type of curl. Has anyone experience anything like this? I wonder if I might be doing the excercise wrong or what, but the pain is in both arms.

Scene its in both arms just sounds like you are using muscles you do not use very much. I would go light and work my way up to heavier weight over a couple of months. Try a straight bar also, sometimes the a ezcurl will do this until you get used to it.

i strained my bicep/forearm going too heavy on free weight preachers using ez curl bar. i use perfect form but i guess too much weight on the negative did it. strain pain went from lower bicep into forearm. dang thang is still not quit right and seriously its been 13 months now!!! so i suggest using you some lighter weight and avoid injury like my dumbass

When I grip the ez bar wide, I get extreme forearm pain. I grab it close grip to relieve that. When I curl with the straight bar, it hurts even worse. Who knows man.

Does it feel like it almost radiates from the bone rather than muscle? If so I had that before - very weird pain, like it's coming from the forearm bone but you know it's not. Got so bad at one point that I couldn't pick up a galon of milk without the pain shooting through my forearm.

Tried everything to fix it including buying some portable ultrasound device (actually that seemed to alleviate it a bit). But I did have to take some break for curling for a few weeks.

Switching to dumbbells for bicep curls which keeps my wrists in natural position, and on top of it only doing one arm at a time eventually made it diminish and then completely disappear. I haven't been bothered by it in a long time.

trogdor- That's almost exactly how it feels. And it only hurts with the e-z bar. I think I am going to lay off that particular excercise for now and see if it goes away cause man it is painful right now.

sounds like tennis elbow (pain on the outside of the elbow and radiates from the middle of the forearm back from just making a fist.) Been dealing with this for about 8mths now. sucks

Try switching to dumbbells for curls (one arm at a time) and following natural motion of the arm as close as possible (which is a bit more inward unlike completely straight forward as the bar would have you do). That way you keep your wrists in a natural position during curling (something that EZ curl bar tries to do but I find that dumbbells work the best for it). That is the only thing that helped me and I haven't had this pain in months (and like I said at one point it was so bad that picking a gallon of milk from the fridge was bothering me)

Bump SSTI I get similar and have learned to rotate exercises so as to not aggravate injury. Lay off it for a month or till pain-free. Take a couple of advil to reduce inflammation and help pain. You should be back to new in no time.

I couldn't resist, sorry I do hope your arm pain subsides. Bump the others and stop doing the curls that cause the pain.

It's that fucking barbell! Switched to DB and it got a little better. I'm wearing one of those gay forearm straps when I lift now. It's been about a month and I'm not healed, but it's tolerable.

Yup. Dumbbells are the key (or at least they were in my case) - just keep your wrists and elbow in as natural position as possible during curling (something barbell won't let you do) and it should get better. I think it took about 2-3 months for the pain to disappear once I switched to dumbbells.

Yeah man the shit sucks...The last time I worked my biceps was about a week ago and my damn forearms still hurt. I hope the pain goes away soon I need to get back to it I hate not being able to do the excercises I like..
Does anyone know of some alternate excercises to work biceps that doesn't put so much strain on the forearms?

try dumbell curls, i usually do them in the incline chair, also the bicep machines....they dont hurt me near as much, but the pain still lingers. i thin i have 2 stop my stand up bar curls cuz those seem 2 still aggervate it. im starin 2 think it jus that dam ez-curl bar efn with my wrist. so im gonna drop that 4 a while n see if that helps.. it all started from fuckin preaches..good luck, i will let u know how it goes..
