If your shoulder was dislocated, you would definitely know. I would go to the Dr.

This guy was bringing the bar down to almost the middle of his stomach and the form he used looked more like a tricep exercise rather than chest. I can't bench like that. I don't believe there is a universal form. You have to do what's most comfortable based on your build. Form isn't going to be the same for an ectomorph and an endomorph. If I benched like that, my weight would drop tremendously. I have longer arms and use a wide grip on the bar with my elbows out to the side. My wrists do stay in line with my elbows though. I've never felt any discomfort from benching.

It reminds me of when I used to do MMA training and because I am right handed, they taught that proper stance was left side forward meaning you would be jabbing with the left hand. Well I did pretty good that way but it never felt natural. I started doing what felt natural and stood goofy footed and jabbed with the right hand holding the left back for power and did much better because that's what felt natural. Not everybody's body mechanics work the same way. Range of motion can vary from person to person and so on.

Dave Tate's form is really good he has some good tips. I tried moving my feet back and then pushing my upper body back to get better setup. Can't say that it helped because its too soon to tell but I do feel more stable. Break you have long arms and need to space them out. For me I am right on the knurl one finger in so yeah it might look like tripress to you. I have tried moving grip out but weight drops and pressure moves to shoulders, not good.

I would leave bench press completely for now and just do incline dumbells-far less pressure on the shoulders.

It can't be dislocated-I dislocated my shoulder and you will know if it's dislocated-it hangs down at the shoulder joint, you can see it visually, apart from the pain and lack of movement and use. You certainly won't be doing any benching with a dislocated shoulder, you'll barely lift your arm.

It might be rotator cuff. Here's a link on rotator cuff injury, but get it checked out

Sounds like inflamation in the rotator cuff which could b caused by a tiny tear or overworked tendons. 800MG ibuprofin will take care of the inflamation but if u have a small tear causing it u want to let that heal b4 it gets worse. it will heal on its own if this is the case but if its a large tear or complete rip u will need surgery to get back to normal. This is the situation Im in so Im limited to certain lifts because I ignored it. give it 2 weeks and if its not back to normal get an mri.

If you flat barbell bench press.... STOP!!!!if you do barbell uprigth rows STOP!!!
these two exercises fucks more shoulders than any other exercises
Do Barbell inclines and declines but NOT flat ones. When doing flat ones use dumbells, this allows for your own natural motion in this exercise.
Upright rows!!!!! just forget them !!!this exercise goes against the natural movement of teh shoulder and will fuck the cuffs in no time
very very few can get away with doing these two exercises.

I did upright rows for the first time every a couple months ago. It definitely did not feel good on my shoulders. You saying that, I will definitely not doing them again.

Agany2extacy my shoulders are both messed. I dislocated one 4 weeks ago, and bruised the other 8 weeks ago, and they are both still giving me problems. I went to physio, and she told me to go very light, half the weight I would usually do. And she gave me rotator exercises to start doing.

Thats a good video. Thats power lifting style. Hes right my dad showed me that when I was 14 years old. Thats how he and all his lifting buddies benched. What I did was get a bar and try different stuff until I felt the most stress on my chest. Then I used that for body building. I used to work out with a guy who did body building for a living. He used a lot of so called half reps not touching your chest and not locking your arms out. He called it sculpting by isolating he chest. It works!!

I've actually been doing this lately myself not only for chest though. It forces your muscles to stay contracted for the entire set and helps strengthen the weakest part of the movement in the range of motion.

Wow that was some real good info on benching. I will admit that my tech sucks. I can bench over 350 but I do feel it in my shoulders. I have shoulder pain all the time. I will follow his steps and see what happens. I have a question for anyone. Doing his tech do you feel it allot more in your pecs????

I get just as much out of it. My bench went way down at first due to injuries and correcting my form but after a several months its climbing back and with no shoulder pain at all

Not sure about the others who have been trying this. I firmly believe when you get his method /form down you will be benching more
