the reason you start out light is to warm up the muscles and joints before going heavy . I don't think its wise to start out heavy . your just asking for trouble . plus with proper warming up you should be able to lift heavier .

sorry, i don't beleive in what you are doing is right at all. unless you want to stay were your at forever. at first it will work, then your gains will slow down and finally stop. you have to switch up all the time if you want new growth. are you saying you start with the heaviest and stay there?

You need to warm up better, or you'll not only be able to lift as much, you'll risk getting injured.
I've been doing chest again, since my shoulder is better, and here is what I started doing on bench (this was last week my 3rd week doing bench):
    Set1: 15 reps with 1plate a side.
Set2: 12 reps wtih 1plate and a 35. usually go to 2 plates but it's been about 6 months since I've done bench. Sometimes I will even do 1 plate again if I'm not feeling too good.
Set3: 8-10 reps with another 35 on top of that.
Set4: 7 reps with a 10 on top of that.
Set5: 4 reps with 10 on top of that.

    Before I was hurt, I'd just go 1 plate, 2 plate, 3 plate, then 3 + 10lb, or 25lb.
Then next exercise I wouldn't start so light, start with medium weight and go heavy.

Big bump to this also i usually do 3 warm up sets
    135 10
    185 10
    225 10
then after that theese are working sets
    275 10
315 10 and so on and this yarys week to week working sets/reps
im 47 so i definitely need to warmup good if i want to try and stay injury free and try to keep increasing weights
