One thing I see in almost every forum started by a newbie about training a certain bodypart that is lacking, the first thing always mentioned is the "cycle there on" and "what else can they do". First off its so important that anyone new to AAS needs to realize that juice is an "aide" for building muscle not the main culprit. You need a solid workout first and foremost, thats the starting point, if your workouts are not helping you grow as a "stand alone routine" then adding a bunch of juice isn't the answer. I see so many young guys and newbie's to juice thinking if they do a bunch of inj. and orals that its gonna fix the problem. Thats just not the case, you can't rely on juice to make your bodyparts grow if your workouts are crap to begin with. I see alot of sets, high reps, low reps, supersets, drop sets, and negatives, and the problem is that your w/outs are all over the place, you need a set foundation with a specific workout for each bodypart to grow. Get your routine on track first, then based on that routine decide what your is goal, what are your objectives, what is your diet like. Before you add juice you have to know what each roid is designed for, learn the ins and outs of that drug so you got an understanding of what your doing. Juice cannot solve all your problems if you don't know what your doing right/wrong in the first place.

and to add to this I would say that its due to too many exercises or training too often or both. When things arent working its best to train less not more. Recovery seems to always be overlooked when its every bit as important as the training itself. Basic big execises 3-4 times a week training each body part once a week is all you need. OMO Rep

Good post Comp, I agree. I'm far from a vet in the iron jungle, but I feel like I've got a pretty solid grasp on my training. The mind body connection is another thing newbs don't typically have any understanding of, I know I sure as shit didn't until somewhat recently. It's something that needs to be developed with lots of training over time. I've finally gotten to the stage where I'm more focused on the muscles being hit with whatever exercise rather than simply moving the weight.
I'm gonna throw this one out there b/c I heard it recently and think it kinda makes sense. Theres a notion that you should never do the same routine twice and that you should always be changing things up, not just your sets and rep counts, but the actual exercises. I'm not a firm believer in that approach, and I've come across some that agree. I think it's more important to master each exercise and stick with them until you've hit a plateau, which could be 2wks or 2months, it's different for everyone. Also, I think certain exercises are more catered to certain body types and certain people. For instance, a lot of dudes love doing behind the neck military presses with the bb, but I don't even try it anymore, it just doesn't work for me, just causes lots of shoulder pain. Now, I'm not saying that a set routine like say Ronnie Coleman is notorious for doing, is the way, but I think that you gotta find which exercises work for you and build a routine around those.

I think everyone is different... As for me I have found that I can't rest for too long (ie: training 3-4x a week).. I need to train and hit it hard with about 5 sets per exercise and train 4 days on, 1-2 off... Thats how I personally see the best results.. As others I know will train 3-4x a week and with about 3 sets per exercise at the most and make HUGE gains... It al depends on the person.. Just sucks how i have to work so hard :/ lol

The number 1 training advice I can give, is that its better to train little but often, and perform every excersise extremly hard, then hang out in the gym all day.
Im a 45 minute trainer. I still go in and do my complete upper body in under 1 hour, and Im very well trained. No muscle group in my mind need more then 12 sets, 3 excersises per session, most often 2 excersises and around 8-10 sets is enough. But you got to hammer them often. I see people saying they get 1 muscle group trained per week. How the heck do you get results that way? Start training more often and less per time, and your results will shoot through the roof. When I do my cirkle, hard training, shifts looks like this: Day #1: Back, Chest, Shoulders, Biceps, Triceps (45 min to 1 hour excersise) Day #2: Lower back, Legs. Day 3: Same as day 1 Day 4: Same as day 2 Day 5: Rest Day 6: same as day 1 Day 7: same as day 2 Do this for 2 weeks and you come and tell me your resuslts are worse, you have done something wrong. Then after 2 weeks, go back to your general cykle. But everyone should one time per month include a one week hardcore cykle to get the muscles working often and hard, but not spend too long time on it. If you break them down utterly you need 2 days of rest. Good topic. Regarding AAS. I have not used it, yet but am curious. I have recieved results that far exceeds people using AAS through natural training. Yes, genes, but also I have the ability to perform every set I do, to the max. I dont lay down the weights until my arms fall off, simple as that. its the ONLY way to really gain. Cause the old expression is very very true: No pain, No gain. |

Do me a favor next time you excersise. Every set you push as your life mattered to it. There is no way you need 5 sets per muscle group, cause you simply cant do it. No offence and maybe Im wrong. But most people that includes this many sets in their training, dont push every set to their max. You think you do, but when you stop, you could have easily done 1-3 more. And those last ones, are actually the ones that makes you grow. The road to the last repetitions, is just the walk to hit the goal, you need to cross the line too, and that is where the last reps comes in. If you are not screaming in agony and pain when you have done an excersise, you did it wrong.:-) |

I do on average 4 sets per exercise ..............3 are warm up sets and only the last one( the work set)I push like my life depended on it.ie Failure. If you pushed the warmups like your life depended on it you would have nothing left for that all important last set which IS the work set . Warm up sets should never be treated as work sets as you prescribe above or maybe im reading it wrong

Very, very good points. It is true. Short term pain, for long term gain.

I dont include warm ups in those sets:-) Although personally I push warmups rather much too, not to the end but hard, but I do high reps. But no..do NOT push yourself until you are very warmed up, and dont go heavy until you are very warm. But other then that. If you dont push your utter most in your focus sets, you will loose out on gain mate. |
