Thumbs down Jeez..I did it now!

Last week was going heavy on squats and hack squats on thursday for legs, well friday I woke up with severe pain right between my shoulder blades on the right side by my spine..so I suffered all wknd and yesterday I had to get something done. So I went to my Doc, got an Xray and well I've got a bulging disk, fuck I'm in pain, so now no workouts for 2 wks..so I'm bummed the fuck out and hurting like hell..The worst part is I have training hard for my competition coming up in August..oh well I gotta suck it up and pray this heals fast !!

I have had that before in the lower back I feel for ya man. When I get an injury I take it out on the muscles I have left to work with. Can you still do standing calf raises?

Sorry to hear about your injury, take a break for a week or two and you will be right back to where you were in no time. I have found that inversion boots really work good for bulging discs, hang upside down for a couple of minutes several times a day and you will repair quicker!

My best advice to you, as a former power lifter who blew a disk and ended up fused 9 years ago:
    1) you need to quit lifting for awhile because regardless of what body part you're working your spine is engaged, especially if your arms are over your head like shoulder presses or you're forcing reps -- gotta rest -- you'll get back faster and believe me I know how hard it is to not workout
    2) ice, ice, ice and did I say ice?
    3) advil
    4) good physical therapy -- if you can find someone in your area that does McKenzie Spine therapy that's the best but you'd be surprised how much repair good therapy can do -- my disc below where I was fused occassionally bulges and I can get it back from the therapy -- good PT are miracle workers
    5) STAY AWAY FROM CHIROPRACTORS!!!!
    6) and bump Gman -- I actually have an inversion table in my home and use it so if you can find one that might help

Thanks everyone for your remarks..chiselmeat I cant do any other excersizes because like bustybabe says the spine is active in all movements..I did try and do some light arms today and man I felt like crying from the pain..no Im not a pussy but it hurts to do anything...so Im gonna look into some inversion therapy and check on the Mckenzie therapy..thank you guys and gals !
