Default Sissy squats aren't for pansies.

I have ben doing sissy squats for the last eight weeks. They have ben getting too easy so I did them yesterday with a twenty five pound plate held against my chest. Today I have some remarkable delayed onset muscle sorness way high up in my quads. If you haven't done them, give them a try for eight or twelve weeks. I believe they will give size up high on my quads for better fullness.

Sissy squats are one of the best and most effective ways of building legs. If you remember, I recommended them a couple of weeks back when a member asked for advice on his leg routine. I referred to them as one of the "old school" moves that no one does anymore and weighted is the only way to go. Great to see your recommendation.

Back in the 90's during some strength training and hypertrophy experiments, we used this exercise for pre-exhaustion in a killer leg routine.

Nautilus Leg Extension, immediately followed by
    Sissy Squats, immediately followed by
    Squats

All exercises were performed with heavy weight to failure. The subjects achieved muscular failure on about the 8th rep, then 2 slow negative onlys, then immediately to the next exercise within 3 seconds. It was brutal but very effective.

The sissy squats were performed with a dumbbell in one hand hanging down by the subjects side while the other hand held onto the frame of the Nautilus Leg Extension for balance.

    The results were amazing.

    I love this excersise.

This and 1 legd squats is what I do when in a hotell somewhere with no gym nearby:-)

But even in the gym, I find sissy squats to be a nice finisher of a leg excersise. I usually do it as the last one, to really finish off the last hope my legs had of staying alive for today:-)

Ok I just went back to that video, and could see her hand on the rack. I thought both hands were on her hips.

Man, I would have loved to watch you doing sissy squats with your hands on the hips, then wondering how the heck the rest of us do this.

Personally, I would send you to a lambada course, you recording the event and telling us how well you perform sissy squats after.
Atleast it would have been a good plan for some good laughs.

    Enjoy them mate.
But above all, its awsome training for when you have no gym around.
But pieace of advice, never do this as first excersise, hardly second.
You need to be very very very warm in your body and knees before doing this, or you might get hurt. This is super important.
Other then that, its a kick arse excersise.
