Ok so i wanted to direct this thread in 2 different areas...
1st to Powerman, I know you're a powerlifter with great stats and was just wondering what your routine's and diets look like?? Simple curiousity... all other powerlifters are more than welcome to chime in on this question, he's just the only one im well aware of... 2nd, I wana start a discussion on Powerlifting VS Bodybuilding.... Like Powerlifing routine's VS your typical Bodybuilding routines and the benefits and disadvantages of both... We all know that one bodybuilder or another has the body we set out to have.. Yet there are some Powerlifters, who im guessing train totally different than a bodybuilder, and they have amazing shredded bodies yet can deadlift 1000lbs lol... Lets get this thing rolling lol

It seems to me there are few similarities, this is because the two sports involve a completely different objective. correct me if I am wrong Powerman, but the power lifters compete with 4 different lifts. therefore to succede a power lifter focuses on those 4 lifts. I think they are dead lift, bench press, clean and jerk, and I am missing one I can't think of it. While a body building is a visual competition on stage. these guys must sculpt every muscle for maximum appeal and all there effort is in there appearance. Although many power lifters are ripped and have awsome bods, many aren't and don't give a crap as long as they can lift more than you. So clearly these athletes may have a dramatically different workouts. I am a body builder often people ask "how much weight can you lift on the bench press?". I answer the same way each time I say "I don't know I never use the bench press. I don't care if I can bench press 300lb or not as long as I look like I can bench 300lb." While a power lifter is liable to quickly answer 525lb, why?, because it is important to the sport.

RESPECT to Powerman and powerlifters, its some remarkable the weight they can lift. i am a bodybuilder and my objective is to increase muscle size. as Chiselmeat said, i dont care how much i can lift. i got me a crazy mind to muscle connection that i have developed over the the 14+ years i have been lifting. so i lift weight that i can feel in the muscle i am trying to work on without just trying to lift the weight by any means necessary. sure i throw in some cheating once and a while to shock the muscle but overall i leave the ego at the door.

The muscle to mind connection is so important yet so often overlooked. I often see beginners tossing around weights with out hardling flexing the target muscle. One must remember to work the muscle not the weight.

I like this topic, it's one that I've thought about and didn't really know if I was correct or not in my thinking. I definitely train as a bb, I'm just not cut out for powerlifting. I have nothing but respect for the powerlifters tho, I grew up watching the WSM competitions. Shit, I named my dog after Magnus von Magnusson after all.
What about cardio and diet? Do powerlifters generally even do any cardio? As far as diet goes, is it just a less strict version of what I bb would eat, since bf isn't generally much a concern?
