    Default EOD 5 day split

I was thinking of doing an EOD 5 day split. Would it be too spread out?

    1 - legs
2 - low intensity cardio (I'm doing Palumbo)
    3 - chest
4 - low int cardio or rest
    5 - shoulders
6 - low int cardio or rest
    7 - back
8 - low int cardio or rest
    9 - arms
10 - low int cardio or rest

I do abs/core in every workout between exercises, and I do calves with legs. I was thinking about doing this split because I really want to focus on shoulders so I wanted them to have their own day so I could really hammer them and they would also have plenty of time to recover before hammering them again. Any thoughts?? Thanks.

too much rest time in between muscle groups IMO.
you want to do each muscle group at least once every 7 days IMO.

I'm with Crazed on this one. I like doing 5 day splits with 3 on, 1 off, and 2 on. That works great for me and allows me to hit my big lifts really hard and have plenty of time to recover without taking too much time off.

Everyone is different and will respond differently. How have you been training up to this point and how has that worked for you?

I am just giving advise based on what I have learned works for me. Opinions are like assholes... Use at your own risk!

I usually train 4-5 days a week for 45 intense minutes. No doing abs between sets...there's no time. Do abs, calves, cardio after training. If it's a rest day, REST. I usually take one week off every 4-6 weeks depending on how I am feeling.

I try to also look at what I am training and what is suppose to be resting. In your example, you are doing chest one day and the next day that you lift, you are doing shoulders. Your shoulders will still be somewhat fatugued from doing chest. I want to lift heavy and blast my shoulders on shoulder day. Throw legs in the middle somewhere to give your upper body some extra rest.

Here is what I do. It's probably wrong, but works for me. Abs and calves 3 times a week.

Chest/tris (I blast one tri exercise)
Back/Bis (I blast one bi exercise)
    Legs
    Shoulders
    Arms

Ultimately, you'll have to do some trial and error. Eat right and get plenty of rest. Keep us posted and good luck.

    Respectfully,

    MWC

Awesome guys, thanks for the input. I was pretty sure everyone would say it was too spread out but I figured I'd ask anyway. I'll ponder this some more, taking into account all your responses, and make a decision later. I will probably combine chest/tris and back/bis and shorten it to a 4 day split. Thanks again.

Mine is a 4 day split, and I really like it.
    Mon: Chest/Tris
    Tue: Back/Bis
    Wed: Off
    Thur: Legs
    Fri: Shoulders/Abs

I really don't do a lot fo bis/tris, they get worked pretty well with the muscle group. Wednesday gives a nice break. What I like best about this setup is that no muscles are really worked the day before for any other muscle group. What I mean is, you aren't doing shoulders the day after you worked chest (where inclince hits shoulders a bit) or tris. And bis are with back, tris are with chest, so it's not like you're doing back, which works bis, and the next day doing bis again.

We're all different. A 10 day rotation would definitely not work for me. I make the most progress on what most would consider to be too much. It works great for me for 2-3 months on/off.

Monday - Back (includes very heavy rack deads) and 1 strict heavy bicep exercise
Tuesday - Chest and 1 isolated tricep exercise
    Wednesday - Shoulders
Thursday - Legs (includes deads) & Abs
    Friday - Biceps and triceps

The downside is it doesn't leave much time or energy for cardio. Saturday my legs are still super sore from Thursday's leg workout, and Sunday, well if you do anything at all on saturday night it's hard to find the motivation.
