I hope all of you are ready for Nov 2nd and get out and vote Republican. This country is fucked otherwise. Linda McMahon is in a tough race in CT against someone who lied about serving in Vietnam. How is the race even close? Last chance to take back our country. Sorry about the rant... See story below.
Senate Candidate Linda McMahon Ripped for Stance on Steroids --FanHouse Linda McMahon's stance on performance-enhancing drugs has led the Senate candidate and former WWE executive to become the target of the Taylor Hooton Foundation, one of the nation's top anti-steroid groups. "She has refused to concede that steroid use is dangerous," the foundation's founder, Don Hooton, said in a statement released Monday. "Speaking as a father who has lost his son to steroids, I can assure her and the good people of Connecticut that these drugs are not just dangerous, they can be deadly." The topic of performance-enhancing drugs has dogged McMahon, a Republican, in her campaign for the Senate in Connecticut. Richard Blumenthal, the Democratic nominee, has attacked McMahon on the subject on several occasions, even citing the deaths of seven former WWE wrestlers since she began her campaign and the fact that her company suspended its drug testing for a decade before it launched a new program four years ago. A message left with McMahon's campaign office was not immediately returned. Hooton said neither he nor the foundation will take a position on the campaign or offer advice on how Connecticut residents should vote come Nov. 2. But he decided the subject was "important and very timely to challenge her on the topic of steroid use in professional wrestling." Hooton's son, a high school athlete in Texas, committed suicide in 2003 after abruptly halting a cycle of steroids. Hooton has testified in front of Congress on multiple occasions and tours the country to educate youth about the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs -- and he's offered to do the same for McMahon. "I would be delighted to sit down with her and tell her about our experience with my son Taylor as well as the stories of many other families that we've met around the country," Hooton said. "Mrs. McMahon should know that our view as to the dangers of these drugs is shared by every reputable doctor not just in America, but around the world." Hooton added that McMahon should face the same kind of scrutiny as executives of the four major sports in the U.S. have faced over the years on the topic of steroids, especially since he said McMahon "may have been more involved in steroid use than just turning a blind eye." "At a time when this threat is growing, we don't need a lawmaker who has actively condoned -- at minimum through inaction -- unlawful steroid use," Hooton said. |

Sad to say, but Hooten's son committed suicide despite his use of steroids. A mirror could tell him more about his son's motives than a Dr. He lashes out at the only cause that couldn't be on his conscience.

sad about the Hooten boy, this was big news here when it happened. but you take you a kid that already suffers from depression, have him juiced up, then abruptly stop (probably with no PCT), of course test levels are going to crash only causing more depression. i think the parents need to look at THEIR actions and see that they shouldn't have made their son stop taking steroids without knowing more info about them and the CORRECT way to come off. now they go around preaching and campaigning without knowing sh*t about aas, only knowing that they have them a son that is no longer alive and need to put the blame on something other than THEIR ignorance.

Lots of people abruptly stop their cycles. In fact, most people don't know what a pct is and they aren't committing suicide. But I'd agree that there could be mental swings from coming off a cycle with OR without PCT. If Hooten caught his kid and made him stop, who's to say what triggered the suicide. The whole family dynamics is unknown. Just sad that his kid felt he had to resort to suicide to end his problems.

Plus, surely they must have some denial knowing that they made their son stop cold turkey without consulting a doctor. (if that is what happened)

the kid was taking anti-depressants and had a history of mental illness, but that can't be the problem. WTF! I have never done a PCT and neither had all the people before me and there was no talk back than of anyone killing themselves from AAS use.

And I agree, parents look for anyone to blame but themselves.

Yeah..it's irrelavent that antidepressants in young adults can cause suicides. Just better to campaign against AAS because it sounds scary.

Mr.Hootens web sight doesn't mention that his son used anti depresants which are known to cause suicide. He does not want the people to know the truth. The truth is he condoned the use of anti depresents which in all likely hood killed him not the juice.

I am soo tired of all these freaking hypocrites espousing opposite views from the ones they then do... take for instance the numerous preachers preaching hate for gays then they them selves get caught hiding the sausage, Mr. Hooton is very similar.....

Taylor Hooton lived 1/2 block from my best friend in HS. He worked out at the same place I did in HS and we had a lot of mutual friends. The common consensus between everyone that knew him that I've talked to is that he committed suicide for several reasons. He not only just came off the gear, he got put on anti-depressants that have a known side effect of suicide in teens and the kid did lots of other drugs. He smoked weed like a chimney, rolled on x nearly every weekend and did other stuff too. Also, I hear his gf broke up with him and he had gotten in trouble with his parents and grounded (probly for roids/drugs) and they took away his truck. I'm sure the roids may have contributed to his suicide, but they were far from the cause.
