I reduced my carb intake by about 90% and lost 5 lbs in 2 days. I guess this is water weight because carbs promote water retention. I already look better in the mirror but I liked when the scale read in the 230's better than 225.

Water weight and glycogen depletion too probably.

What happens when glycogen depletes? That doesn't sound good.

Never mind. It is a more complicated process than I thought. I found this article and in one sentence it states that carbs are necessary for fat to burn....interesting. Anyway, here is the article: http://www.sagewoodwellness.com/Doc0006.htm.

You'll start moving into ketosis by reducing your carbs drastically.

I'm a big fan of the keto diet-great way of dropping bodyfat while holding onto muscle.
You swop your energy source from glycogen, converted by the liver from carbs to ketones, which the liver converts dietary fat into in the absence of carbs.

Most effective is to have a carb post workout, or alternatively a carb only meal once or twice per week to replenish muscle glycogen lost from training

It's not easy, that's for sure. I love my carbs. I miss those 5 lbs even though it wasn't muscle I like the weight. It doesn't look so good but.....

It definitely burns fat like crazy but my biggest problem with it was the lack of energy which did reflect on my weight lifiting. But I probably overdid it. In order to lose as fast as possible I did low carb every day, every week, no carb-up days which probably contributed to it (and that's on top of a ton of cardio). Carbing up occasionally, like Yohimbe suggests, would probably alleviate that problem.

Yeah the one day carb up thing is how I used to do it. I think I lost 15lbs in like 4-5 weeks with the keto-type diet. I would order a pizza once per week and eat the whole thing by myself. In a picture I have of myself there is actually a stack of 6 empty pizza boxes in the background.

Nah, that was last year. I haven't been on the bud in almost 3 years. I'm thinking about it lately though with these sleep issues I've been having. After all, it is the best natural sleep aid!

Also, I do not know how heavy you are. But when you have 100 lbs to lose, you can lose much more weight in a week than when you only have to lose 20 lbs. Havent you ever seen the biggest loser? LOL

As for now, I am just figuring it all out.
Yes as a general rule the larger you are(IN BODYFAT) the faster the original weight loss is

yea. Im debating going on some kind of low carb diet in the spring to shed some bodyfat for summer. Im just worried about my job, which is very demanding and most of the time in the summer im in the sun all day everyday.

I dont know if i can maintain a no to low carb diet and function all day at work and at the gym day in day out during the summer with no carbs.....
