    Default Electrolytes & Sodium

Do these 2 go hand in hand? What I'm trying to say is that I'm trying to stay well hydrated with electrolytes because I was experiencing some muscle spasms, I guess a gallon of water is just not good enough. I had some Gatorade at lunch time today and was reading the label. The thing is loaded with sodium. Is there a way to get your electrolytes up and watch the sodium intake for less water retention? I would guess that Powerade and Pedialyte would be the same.

If your trying to grow you'll need sodium, it will help pull water into the muscles.

Sodium is an electrolyte. Electrolytes include sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, hydrogen phosphate, and hydrogen carbonate. Muscle activity primarily uses sodium, calcium, and potassium. So, you do need a certain level of sodium for optimal muscle activity. If you workout hard and sweat heavily, you will need additional electrolytes, including sodium.

OMG, electrolytes, the most common screw up besides wrong drug or dose in the ICU and on the hospital floor !!!

I authored a few chapters in surgical texts regarding this subject.

I'm afraid I will have to leave it alone for now. The subject is massive and many more electrolytes are in the mix.
