As for after the workout, research is clear that eating carbs and protein within 30 minutes of your workout will help speed up your recovery time by replenishing glycogen stores and possibly increasing protein synthesis (there is some evidence that eating protein before your workout helps with protein synthesis, too). The guideline for carbs is to eat within 30 minutes of completing your workout and to have 0.7-1.2 grams of carbohydrate per kilogram of body weight (0.3-0.6 grams per pound). A large banana has 30 grams of carbohydrates. The guideline for protein is one gram for every 3-4 grams of carbs. Peanut butter has 9 grams of protein per 2 tablespoons. Yogurt is another good source of carbs and protein

Absolutley! I have 1 shake & 2 solid meals within 3 hours of finishing each workout.

Bro, what's your take on yogurt & peanut butter PWO? I always steered clear of anything with high amounts of fats as they can interfere with insulin with insulin production.

I never use yogurt or peanut butter after a workout. I have used peanut brittle after a workout for a insulin spike before I drink my shake. But the best thing in my opinion for a insulin spike is fruit. I've seen guys eat a snickers bar and drink a coke while they walk out of the gym. Now I think thats a little over board for a insulin spike. I used to workout at a gym that gave everyone a slice of pizza when they walked out. But good ole fruit and a whey protein shake is the best combo.

Peanut butter does work great for masking that funky flavor of goat whey. I do like goat whey no tummy problems . I just put a couple of tablespoons of PB in the goat whey and it taste great. I like the goat whey in the mornings.....
Low fat yogurt is also good in the morning but I agree post workout is not the time for them.

Bads hit all the right nails on the all the right heads, lol...

Yogourt and PB pwo are a no no. Too slow for absorbtion...Yogourt has Casein protein in it and PB has EFA's in it and they slow protein absorbtion down big time.

High glycemic carbs always pwo. Maltodextrin is great and Waxy Maize starch along with your protein if you can get it. When all else fails, Gatorade and protein is the surefire way to spike those insulin levels in no time.

Okay, Action (and everyone else), here's the question:

Presently, I am working out lifting between 45 minutes and and hour a day.
    6 days a week.

No regular sets ever. Only super sets, giants sets, drop sets and pre-exhaust.

As soon as I finish my lifting I go right to cardio between 30 -40 minutes.

    Here's the deal.

They (you guys, me and anyone who knows anything) say the best window of opportunity to get your carb protien hit is within one half hour after your weightlifting workout, but I'm doing cardio during that half hour (and sometimes beyond---btw, I f*cking hate doing cardio).

    So...

Should I get that hit right after my weight lifting and before my cardio (kep the sh*t in my locker) or do what I'm currntly doing and get my hit after the entire workout?

(I live up the block from my gym so from the time I finish cardio untill I get home is like 4 or 5 minutes or less).

Would love to hear your or anyone's feedback.

As an aside, I go more for the underwear/swimsuit model look rather than say your bouncer/offensive lineman look.

Also, as you know, cardio is more effective on an empty stomach.

What do you, or anyone else for that matter, think?

    Thanks,

    Herm

Cardio is always more effective on an empty stomach right after waking up as your glycogen stores are depleted from sleeping the night before and you're most likely to burn fat as opposed to carbs.

Now if you're doing cardio after your workout, you're also more likely to be burning more fat than carbs as your carbs would be depleted from your weights workout.
