Hi guys
ok, ive been lifting many years now,im always always looking for mass,so i eat big and train big: Just for once i thought id cut, so i go ahead and cut most of the strarchy carbs out, i eat lean meat, veg, and some rice, no fruit,no other food, just the basic foods, the body fat starts to melt off, then i get to a point were nothing is comming off, i will lose some muscle, but not a lot, but the fat, maybe the last 10lbs wont shift, i always seem to hover at 12%, For bulking i will eat 4500kcals for cutting, i even dropped to 1200kcals, How can i keep the fat melting, to bring me into single digit fat levels. my height =5ft 7 current weight 192 current Bd, 14% i think i need to carb up, but not sure when to do it in the cut cycle, or how long it will take, the last time it took me 14 weeks, and i still had a little fat around the waist. Any info is appreciated guys, as ill be cutting just after xmas 2012. |

What are you at when you first start dieting? Maybe you have to try going up instead of down?

I went through the same thing. Buttom line is, cutting based on diet alone without any cardio will work only for a select few.
For the rest of us, we have to do cardio to go below 12% BF. That is of course if you are training without AAS or fat burning supps. |

yeah, the only time I ever was down to like 10% was when I was running a lot. I hear interval sprinting is a good way to keep muscles and burn fat.

Yeah bump to that Pack!!! Interval training is the nuts.. Personally I couldn't give two hoots about my BF because i'm in it to become a beast but some of the bros i train with will pretty much only do Interval training when cutting. To be honest its mostly the only cardio i do to build power and strength. I keep it short and f##king hardcore but to burn some fat you could push it longer. Try going on the treadmill on a high incline at a speed as fast as you can then sprint for 30sec and rest for a min, jump back on and sprint for 30sec then rest for a min.. keep doing that for around 20mins(if you can, i last to about 10-15mins). Same can apply to the rower, just be on the safe side and don't do what i do and end up jumping the rower across the gym floor.

yeah i am trying to shed a few BF right now, yesterday I did 45 min on the tread mill, but I did it like this....
5 minute warm up 0.75 miles fast run about 10 mph .25 walk 0.5 miles jog up hill .25 miles walk 0.75 fast run about 10 mph .25 walk and repeat. I think all in all that is better than just running 4.5 miles at 7 mph... more fun too

Hi
when i cut im usualy at the weight i am now, around 192lbs, ive been heavier, but man im sluggish above 192lbs, so i try to stay at that weight, when i cut, i try to cut to 175lbs i can get to 175lbs, but cant suck that last few pounds around my middle. Dont get me wrong, you can see my abs and they are ok, but, they are not considered as kick ass abs, no way, not at 12% i will re-think my cutting strategy to keep the fat melting, but wonderd what you guys did for the single digit fat %: i think im gonna keep my protein intake constant, and play with carb intake, when the fat slows down , ill carb up to rev the metabolism, then reduce again: I never cut, not in 17 years, im strictly about power, but theres a first time for everything: Respect goes out to everyone whos answerd to this, im reading all the comments, so Sincere thanks guys, God bless: |

everyone is different for sure. got me a crazy metabolism and mix that with decent amount of muscle, the right gear, and a diet thats around 3,600 cals, 95g of fat (half from flax seed oil), 330g or carbs (yes, you read that right!), 2,400mcgs sodium, 370g-ish of protein, minimal cardio, hardcore training, and i still shred up!
just have to experiment to see what works for YOU. carbs are the major factor for most.
