Default Newbie -- hope to learn/ask questions

I am new to this website (just joined today). Posted in the VIP section, but perhaps this is a better location.

For the past several years I have been employed overseas as a defense contractor. Before everyone thinks badass, I was a pilot -- but I did fly those badasses around. Really got into lifting over there as there wasn't much else to do in off time. Many of those guys were running cycles and I had my opportunity, but knew enough to know I didn't know enough.

Since back I have hooked up with two guys that have been invaluable to me -- one a former competitive power lifter from Westside Barbell and one college football strength coach. They have pointed out weaknesses in both muscle groups I failed to concentrate on and technique as most of my lifting was self-taught. They have got me on a great program.

Since back and with my age (42) I did go to a doc for hormone replacement therapy. I have run two ten week "cycles" of testosterone, but lets face it, they don't administer the doses discussed here. My first time was 50 mgs test prop and 100 mgs of test cyp per week. This second go around has been reduced to just 100 mgs of test cyp per week. I have learned under supervision (esp with PCT stuff) and I may have noticed a slight "bump" but it's more or less been a waste of time.

I am 42, 6 feet tall, and 230 pounds. I am currently benching 385, but the gains are coming slowly now. I hope to continue to hit it hard and achieve 405 bench natural by spring and then perhaps add some others (test but in upped dosages, deca or Eq and perhaps a short d-bol jumpstart) and see where I can go.

I just came here to learn. I have done months of research, but it's time to ask the guys who are actually doing this -- paper and real world experience are often times two different things entirely! I hope you don't mind me asking 100 questions!

Welcome. So, you want to be a powerlifter? Is strength your main objective?

I don't know if I want to be a powerlifter per se, but I do find this a competition with myself -- to see how far I can go. There was a time when I thought I'd be happy benching 315 just to see three plates on each side. That has come and gone and now my aim is 405 or four plates on each side -- just a mindset I guess. So powerlifter, no. But strength and size are my main objective, yes.
