The Deca dosage I'm not understanding. Glutamine will always help but the first place you should be looking is your diet.
How many cals are you getting in daily?

You need to add a good 80 more grams of protein, I will also go out on a limb to say your total daily calories are quite low.

I would say lose the crapy supplements if you are on gear. i know they are cheap but if you focus more on real food and maybe adding some protein powder it will be much better.

Agree with Supy. That protein intake needs to be upped.

Post your diet from morning to wake and we will help you. imo 350gs is not necessary, about 1.5 per lb would be good. I'm 240ish and usually stay around 240g per day (40g per meal), but right now I have upped to 300g, plus post workout shake.

glutamine is unneccessry as if your diet contains efficient amount of protein you would not need glutamine; now i will say that studies do suggest that glutamine does strenthen the immune system and in saying this if I were to get sick with bad cold then yes I may supplement with glutamine but other than that it has no use. believe it or not most pro bodybuilders dont supplement with it but do with another drug I wont speak of that has recently come out in the past 2 years. and what a miracle its in your kitchen cabinet.
Why do bodybuilders supplement Glutamine? Glutamine is the most widely used amino acid by the body for building muscle. Post workout there is a huge drop in glutamine levels as the muscles use it for protein synthesis. This implies there is a need for glutamine. It is this reason why glutamine supplementation is advocated by some. Glutamine may sound like a miracle muscle builder, but there is some things we have to remember. During a bulk phase you will be eating a lot of protein, therefore getting a lot of glutamine already. Since it is a non-essential amino acid, the body will also be able to quickly manafacture the extra glutamine it needs postworkout. The intestinal gut also takes a particular liking to glutamine. In fact about 90% of glutamine is absorbed directly by the intestine to be used for energy. So, in essence most of the glutamine you take, just goes down the toilet anyways! Glutamine studies: A few studies have been done on glutamine to help us answer if Glutamine works. A study done by Candow published by Eur J Appl Physiol 86:142-149, 2001 had 31 volunteers do resistance for 6 weeks. One group supplemented glutamine at high doses(0.4 grams per lb of lean muscle), while the other had maltodextrin. Both groups gained muscle at the same rate. Another study published in J Strength Cond Res 17(3):425-438, 2003 had 29 on a strength training program. They were in 3 groups, creatine only, placebo, and glutamine and creatine. Both creatine groups gained muscle more than placebo, however no difference between the non-glutamine and the glutamine creatine combo. A seperate study in that issue J Strength Cond Res 17(4):810-816, 2003, using ribose, glutamine, and effervescent creatine showed no difference with the glutamine group. Glutamine has also been suggested as a supplement that is better for dieters. The reason is due to some research on glutamine during stress situations. What does science say about that? The only study I could find on muscle preservation during dieting, is published in Journal of Sports Science and Medicine (2003) 2, 163-168. The researchers had 18 athletes for 12 days on a weight loss program, with half taking glutamine(0.16 g/ lb of bodyweight). They found no difference in muscle retention between the glutamine and non glutamine group. Summary: According to the research, Glutamine supplementation is a waste of money, whether bulking or cutting. Glutamine supplementation may have other health benefits; such as maintaining gut health and immunity and helping those with illnesses. |

Glutamine (L-glutamine) supplements are often claimed to be useful for a number of conditions, but does glutamine work? Studies show that using glutamine in IV nutrition in critically ill people can reduce infections and problems in general. Oral glutamine may also help treat HIV/AIDS wasting and reduce mouth pain due to chemotherapy. The effectiveness of glutamine for other uses has not been confirmed yet.
Glutamine (L-glutamine) is an amino acid found in many protein-rich foods and also used in dietary supplements. As with most supplements, people use glutamine for a number of different purposes. Glutamine supplements are sometimes claimed to be helpful for the following uses: Promoting mental health and well-being, including treating the following: Depression Anxiety Insomnia Moodiness Irritability Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Improving athletic performance and helping to build muscle Helping with certain nutritional disorders, such as: Crohn's disease Ulcerative colitis Excessive weight loss due to HIV or AIDS Treating or preventing mouth sores, diarrhea, and nerve pain due to chemotherapy Treating cystinuria (a certain generic problem that causes kidney stones) Treating stomach ulcers Treating diarrhea Treating sickle cell anemia Improving nutrition in people who need IV feedings. Glutamine Studies Various studies have shown that using glutamine in IV nutrition (especially for critically ill people) can provide several benefits, including fewer infections and fewer problems in general. Studies have shown that taking glutamine orally may help treat HIV/AIDS wasting (a nutritional problem due to HIV or AIDS). Oral glutamine may also work to help reduce mouth pain due to chemotherapy, although it is not clear why glutamine works for some people and not for others for this use. Glutamine studies for other uses are generally lacking. A few small studies indicate that glutamine probably does not work for athletic performance, diarrhea, cystinuria, or Crohn's disease. There is not enough evidence to have any idea whether glutamine is effective for other uses, including any of the claimed mental health benefits of the supplement. Final Thoughts on Glutamine Effectiveness Early research suggests that glutamine may be effective for a few uses. However, much more research is necessary to confirm these early findings. There is not enough evidence to suggest that glutamine is effective for other uses. It is important to remember that glutamine is classified as a dietary supplement (not a drug) and is, therefore, less strictly regulated than drugs. |
