Default WTF with shipping supplements to canada

I just want to share/question shipping supplements to canada.

I was trying to order some supplements from bodybuilding.com.
I usually shop there since they have one of the largest selection and top notch customer service and good prices.

the funny thing is when I was checking out, the system prompted me and I had to take out some of the supplements off my order cause apparently

The following products are NOT allowed to be shipped to your shipping country (Canada):

. Anabolic Innovations Life Support, 120 Capsules
. Optimum Opti-Men, 180 Tablets
and I was like, SERIOUSLY!!! it's a fucking multi-vitamins and a health product.

anyone had this happened to them??

I wanna use another site where they don't check for this but I'm not sure if the products might be stopped at the border.

any thoughts...

Sounds like some bullshit to me. Can't be worse than Australia customs. I had to brush dirt off my boots with a toothbrush to get in that country.

That sounds right. Anything with BCAA or Arginine is not importable to Canada. BB.com is following the rules to a tee the last couple of year. Order from Prosource.net they ship all that stuff to Canada no questions asked.

Thanks cap!
Funny thing is that those same products are available and sold in many supplement stores in Canada. But I am not encouraged to buy them from Canada because they are alot more expensive so I rather buy from the states.
I heard the problem might not be what these sups contain, but the importation policy that their respective companies is using at the border. (I might be wrong though)

Because If they contain unapproved ingredients, why would they be sold in stores in Canada (most canadian web stores have them) and even some gyms.

Default Taken from health Canada

"L-Arginine"
-----------
Advisory
2006-30
May 16, 2006
For immediate release

OTTAWA - Health Canada is advising patients who have previously had a heart attack not to use L-arginine supplements because of a recent study showing an increased potential risk of death when used after a heart attack.

L-arginine is an amino acid which is commonly used to sustain and promote healthy heart function. However, a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in January 2006 suggests that L-arginine may not help improve heart and circulatory function following a first heart attack and may be associated with an increased risk of death when used after a heart attack.

All L-arginine products must carry a warning on their label that reflects the recent scientific information. Health Canada has issued a stop-sale and recall on L-arginine-containing products that do not have the appropriate labelling. As well, products containing L-arginine must have market authorization before they can be sold in Canada.

For patients with heart disease who have not had a previous heart attack, taking L-arginine is unlikely to present a risk and may provide benefits since L-arginine may help the body repair damage to blood vessels in the heart.

"Red Yeast Rice"
----------------
Foreign Product Alert
2007-152
October 25, 2007
For immediate release

Health Canada is advising consumers not to use the products specified below due to concerns about possible side-effects. More info

Date of alert: October 25, 2007
Source of Alert: U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Product Name: Red Yeast Rice, Red Yeast Rice/Policosonal Complex and Cholestrix

Manufacturer / Place of Origin
Red Yeast Rice and Red Yeast Rice/Policosonal Complex are sold by Swanson Healthcare Products, Inc. (Fargo, ND, U.S.) and manufactured by Nature's Value Inc. and Kabco Inc.

Cholestrix is sold by Sunburst Biorganics (Baldwin, NY, U.S.)

Product Description
Red Yeast Rice, Red Yeast Rice/Policosonal Complex and Cholestrix are promoted as dietary supplements for the treatment of high cholesterol.

Reason for Warning
The U.S. FDA warned consumers not to purchase or use these products as they contain lovastatin, a prescription medication for the treatment of high cholesterol that should only be taken under the guidance of a health professional.

Possible Side Effects
Lovastatin has been associated with serious adverse reactions such as liver, kidney and muscle problems. It should not be used by individuals with liver or kidney disease or by at-risk populations such as the elderly and pregnant/nursing women. Lovastatin should not be used in combination with other medications such as cholesterol-lowering agents or antibiotics (e.g. erythromycin or clarithromycin) as this may increase the risk of drug interaction leading to serious side-effects.

it has zip to do with bcaa's and arginine. both are legal in this country.

it has everything to do with NPN numbers or submission numbers.
Health Canada wants every single product you import to have one of these numbers. if it doenst it wont be allowed in.
also distributors here in canada that distribute these products are putting pressure on USA sites to stop sending to canadians as it affects their sales and the stores sales of whoever the company ships too here in canada.

Its bullshit. but thats the way the cookie crumbles,. its only going to get worse now too, with the passing of bill -36.

I just went thru this shit couple months ago when my stores where raided for this very reason

either find a site that will send it to you. or find someone in canada willing to give u a break on the stuff.
if i carried these items i would sell them to u for my cost plus 10%. but i dont carry them sorry
