Default Number One Gym Argument

Ok guys i know this will get a lot of responses but i have to do it!!! What do you guys think about the saying "shorter people can build muscle easier"!! Ive heard every argument from shorter people saying its bs, and from tall people saying that shorter people have a lot less range of motion, and more mass throughout the muscle because its shorter. What do you guys think??

Ok I dont think they can build any faster than tall ppl, but the gains are more apparent only because a tall persons gains are stretched out. Take a long bicep compared to a short bicep. Add the same amount of mass to the short one as you would the long one. The short one would look bulkier than the long one because the long ones area is more spread out. You could compare it to adding peanut butter to 2 different sizes of bread. If you add the same amount of peanut butter to a small piece as you would the big peice the small piece will have a thicker layer of peanut butter. I know that isnt scientific but its the same principal.

Thats just the tall guys making excuses since the top bench pressers are all over 6 ft. tall i dont buy into that for a second. Heavyweights are all over 6 ft tall look at the strongman competitors many of those guys are 6'5" so there it is nuff said

It dont matter its just like b real says its obvious the short guys grow the same as the tall guys in the same span of time they just look better less gaps to fill in so iguess in that aspect advantage goes to shorter guys. However you are seeing more and more tall guys placing well

Depends on the excersises bro. Taller guys have longer extremities, sure they can bench alot of weight, but try curling excersises. Picture this - put 2 heavy plates on each side of a 10 foot broom stick. Then put the same 2 plates on each side of a 5 foot broom stick. Wich one do you think will have more of a bow to it?? There will definetly be more stress on the longer stick.. You have to picture it the same way with the bones of a taller person vs a shorter person, as far as curls and stuff. Holla if you hear me!!

Ok but do you guys think with some hardcore training and just time spent in the gym over long periods of time can you beat bad genetics? I dont have great genetics. All my family is fat, dad, mom, sister pretty much the whole family no lie. I didnt get the fat gene. If i quit training within 2 months id drop to around 180 to 185 lbs. Im currently 200 pounds now and train no less than 5 days a week. I have trouble sustaining mass. I can easily get the muscle, just not packing on the mass that id like to be. I could train different and be lean, but thats not what i want am training to grow. I sometimes forget though that i have not been training long, but im sure we all get frustrated from time to time. There is no other way around it though im going to be reach my goals it might just take me longer than someone with the genetics to build muscle more easily.

if you work hard enough you can achive a great physic . you probably won't be Mr. O without great genetics , but that doesn't mean you can't look great . my opinion on you not keeping your weight is your diet . your diet determines your size , keep that protein high .

With the whole tall short thing I just have to say something because one of my friend is 6'3 and likes to bring this up.

If you had someone like UR who is 6''9 (I think) and is 300lbs but than had a dude that was 5"6 or 5"7 like me or WW that weighed 300lb, we'd be starting to look a bit on wide side because it isn't spread out like UR. This is basically the same concept as the peanut butter example but it shows that shorter people don't build muscle "easier" as such but because we're shorter in stature we don't have as much muscle to build.

It is a shorter way up for the short guys, but tall guys have more area to add mass to, so it is a trade off , I say it is right down the middle

Youll never see any real mass gains from circuit training..It may help someone new to lifting but its not gonna build any muscle for any experienced lifters

I think shorter guys may look bigger due to shorter limbs, and muscles looking fuller.
Also, depends what your definition of 'easy' is.
It's fair to say shorter guys build muscle easier because they need less protein then taller guys. However, I don't know if there is any scientific research to prove that. What I'm saying is, it's common to consume 1g of protein per lb. So if a guy is 5'6" 180, which is fairly big, he's taking less protein then a guy say my size, 6'3" 240ish.
Same with bulking and total calories.

Yes bump that dave, look at just the total number of bodybuilders out there. How many of them as a whole are 6'0 and over??? Now i know there are some names such as arnold, tony freeman, and a few others that are top ten mr.o status but for the most part i would say 90 percent of competitive bodybuilders are in the 5'8 to 5'9 range. Look at the worlds strongest men. id say 90 percent of those guys are over 6'0. It may not be scientific proof, but there are way many more shorter bodybuilders than tall. Shorter as in around 5'8 to 5'10 range.
