Default Does this cream works?

Airol [Retin-A] (Tretinoin)
Tretinoin (Retin-A, Avita, Airol, Renova) is a derivative of Vitamin A and is the treatment of choice for comedonal acne, or whiteheads and blackheads. It works by increasing skin cell turnover promoting the extrusion of the plugged material in the follicle. It also prevents the formation of new comedones. Tretinoin is also the only topical medication that has been proven to improve wrinkles.

Side Effects of Retin-A
The effect of increased skin cell turnover can be irritation and flaking. For this reason, many people stop using Retin-A after a couple of days to weeks, then think that it didn't work. It is important to realize that Retin-A is very effective for whiteheads and blackheads, but it may take 6-9 weeks to see a noticeable difference. It takes at least 6 months to see a noticeable difference in wrinkles. The best benefit is seen if Retin-A is used for at least a year.

Retin-A Help
Here are some guidelines that may make it easier to take this great medicine.

Apply Retin-A in a thin layer at night. A small amount goes a long way.
In the morning wash your face with a mild facial scrub or rough wash cloth. This will help reduce the noticeable flaking.
After washing, apply a good water-based moisturizer. Yes, guys, this applies to you too. The moisturizer will make the drying effect of the medicine more tolerable.
If flaking occurs during the day use a wash cloth to remove it and apply more moisturizer, or just apply moisturizer.
Try using a moisturizer that also contains a sunscreen. If not, apply sunscreen anytime you are in the sun even for a short amount of time. Tretinoin makes you more susceptible to sunburn.
When you first start using Retin-A, apply it every other night or every 3rd night. The flaking and irritation side effects are usually the worst in the first 2 weeks of application. As your skin adjusts to the medicine, you can apply it more frequently.
If you notice an increase in the irritation or flaking, it's ok to take a break for a couple of days. Just don't stop completely without consulting your health care provider!

Have any one tried?

I believe it works, but I don't have any experience with it.
Try looking into Proactiv. It's a big marketing hype, but the products are actually very good.

Sun helps as well. I think there is an article on here from Cretin, a supermod here years ago. I think he even suggested a bath with bleach in it. (don't quote me on that!).

Homeopathic solutions work well for AAS induced Acne.
Retin A is also helpful but really on treats the surface.

Retin-A does help with acne but its best if taken concurrently with an antibiotic such as minocycline. If you have severe acne, the best thing to do is to see a dermatologist. He will prescribe an oral and a topical that is best suited for your particular situation. If you don't want to go that route, then proactiv is the way to go. However, you don't need to buy the name brand product because it is just a very well marketed and expensive combination of over the counter meds. Its just a benzoyl peroxide wash and topical as well as toner (alcohol). If you go to walmart or walgreens you can buy a knockoff package for 1/3 of the price that will work just as well. Or you can purchase products separately and see what works best for you. The benzoyl peroxide causes dryness so a facial moisturizer is good to have with it. If none of the above work, like with me, Accutane is the way to go. It is the only product that will actually put the acne into remission. But don't use it without a dermatologist because blood draws are necessary to monitor liver function and cholesterol.

Accutane + AAS is a big load for the old liver filter, be real careful there. Avoid sunlight with accutane, you'll burn quicker than Ryan Leaf did with his NFL career.

Retin-A is the best exfoliant out there period. This cleans off all the dead layer of skin of the stratum corneum and restarts the normal skin turn over cycle. Can "unclog" pores by clearing the dead layer. You'll notice some drying and redness of the skin initially. If it persists, the concentration is too high. Watch sun with this one too.

This works like a charm.

Rub a little preparation H under your eyes and it temporarily
smooths out wrinkles and puffiness.

I use it before I go out to dinner with the wife or when I want
to look good for the evening.

Smooth it on like an hour or two before you plan on going out.

As I said, works like a f*cking charm, but
it's only temporary. But still...
